It's against the law to discriminate based on race or gender.
Some People believe that homosexuality is wrong, and therefore they should not be allowed to marry.
But then some people believe the moon is made of cheese. That doesn't mean they are right.
Some people think that if marriage is love, then we should allow people to marry pets, children, siblings, or multiple partners, at the same time.
But pets and children can not give consent. Siblings produce horrible birth defects, and marriage is about monogamy, not polygamy.
Weather you believe homosexuality is wrong, or that aliens from the planet Bandark, visit you at night. You are entitled to those beliefs.
You are not however, allowed to revoke another persons rights, based solely on those beliefs.

Well, it seems to me that Leviticus is pretty clear on this, and it certainly is hard to argue with God.
Perhaps the best way to win this battle would be to point out the absurdity of it, by creating initiatives based around all the other laws of Leviticus too. Why single out homosexuality when there are so many other religious laws that get broken every day? SHOW THESE PEOPLE WHAT BORN AGAIN HYPOCRITES THEY REALLY ARE! Create propositions based around these other laws of Leviticus and every time one of them squeals about it, sight precedence in the fact that they've already chosen to invoke religious doctrine into the system by passing bans on same sex marriage, adoption rights, putting "In God We Trust" on the money and "Under God" in the pledge. Let's just help them along in their quest to be a Christian nation. Maybe they'll put us all on an island like they keep saying and leave us alone (if they don't end up following Hitler's lead)

I know being in a gay LTR for 15 years and monogamous was the best. We had to hide feelings when I was going to the Operating Room for surgeryHowever, he really wanted to be married and belong. He married his Secretary and said he will be as happy as he can with a woman. Wow, so unfair to who? Both! The reason I honored who I was is that I would be honest, and my ex-wife deserved to be loved 100% for who she is, I did not want to destroy her and make her feel less of a woman. A gay marriage would also decrease the risky sex that goes on and hopefully spread less disease. I did not even mention the feeling of safetyness I felt. I also had to tell the hospital way back in 90 my gay sig. other was my next of a kin and he was my brother. Trust me I had 6 surgeries at a major hospital, now they honor the domestic partner, a checked box.

I think it's a crime to deny people the rights that everyone else has; In fact, it is a crime, but apparently we as gays are somehow exempt from constitutional protection. I've read that proponents of the bill claim that overturning it would go against the people's rights to make laws, that it undermines democratic processes; I say, however, that overturning a bad law is just another aspect of democracy, because the fundamentals of government are not based on simply passing law after law, some pruning has to be done to eliminate obsolete laws. Proposition 8 needs to be killed, it's blatant discrimination and the only thing keeping it alive is religious activists, which, if I'm not mistaken, are supposed to be *separate* from the government and it's duties.

Whichever of us survives the other will have to pay the inheritance tax equivalent to what a total stranger on the street would have to pay in order to keep BOTH halves of our home. The favorite argument in opposition to gay marriage is that God is against it, as He tells us in the Bible. Or that children need the traditional nuclear family in which to thrive. However, that argument fails to address the stark reality that the Bible also proscribes divorce, but it is difficult to meet anyone today who has not been divorced at least once. Where are the naysayers' criticism on that issue? Further, the problem in society today is that so many children are growing up fatherless. Can it be anything but better to grow up with two fathers? If raising children in a gay home makes children gay, where is the evidence that most gay people are the products of gay homes? It's about time for a change and I just hope the "Christian right" can see past their own blasphemous and judgemental rhetoric long enough to allow us fair protection under the law. It's sad that these battles are fought through massive multi-million dollar campaigns on TV, most of which are lies and exaggerations, and most of the people who decided I could not marry the love of my life probably decided this based on a commercial that gave them a warm fuzzy feeling. I also wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who did the right thing and voted based on the ideals of equality this country was founded on. At this point the ball is in our court and it is time to fight for our rights as a united community and to ask those we love and care for to stand with us. After all, we pay taxes too and deserve the same legal rights as any other citizen of this great country.

We face one big problem. The religious institutions are claiming "marriage" as their word. If this is truly the case why is the government trying to balance the religious institutions with everyone else? GLBT people aren't allowed to legally marry the person that they want to spend the rest of their life with because organized religion has infiltrated all levels of government so far as to blur the distinct separation between church and state -to make the two become one and the same, so then they can “legally” impose their “traditional values” based discrimination/sanctions/oppression.
If this is the case, then what they (the government) are really saying is that we GLBT people aren't true citizens of this country. If that is the case then we shouldn't have to pay our taxes to help fuel a government and thus country that is going to turn around and stab us in the back.
That knife cuts both ways.
The bottom line is: Change the laws so that ANY 2 people of the age of consent -no matter their configuration- can marry!
